I grew up on the east coast in a small town in Maine (Lyman).  I moved to San Diego just over 9 years ago and am currently living in the San Elijo area.

How long have you been with CrossFit Trifecta?
Since April 2016.

What’s your favorite WOD? (so far)
I love any WOD that has cleans and/or HSPU’s

What’s your least favorite WOD? (so far)
Karen – I LOATHE wall balls… I’ve contemplated breaking up with her several times…

In 3 words or less describe your average day at CrossFit Trifecta.
Empowering, challenging, rewarding!

What were you doing before CrossFit?
I’ve always been pretty active…For most of my adult life I had been doing the typical globo gym thing …. working out entirely too long (2 plus hours a day) at 24hr Fitness and getting minimal results.  I enjoy(ed) cycling, running and Bikram yoga, as well as weightlifting.

How did you hear about CrossFit and/or CrossFit Trifecta?
I’ve known about CrossFit for quite a while and I’ve always admired the athletes, but I didn’t understand how people could pay that much money each month just to workout.  I finally gave in and purchased a groupon to a local box about 2 years ago and after the first fundamentals class, I instantly fell in love.  There was no turning back.  I was hooked!  (and still am!)

Give us some insight as to your thoughts after your first workout at CrossFit Trifecta.
From the moment I stepped into CrossFit Trifecta I knew that I had found my home.  Everyone was super nice and inviting, and there was so much energy in the class.  Coach Tommy has created a wonderful community here and I knew I needed to be a part of that. All of the coaches at Trifecta are fabulous…but they do more than just instruct us. They encourage us. And they push us when they know we can be pushed. They’re not just our coaches, but our cheerleaders.

Tell us a little about then vs. now. In regard to your fitness level before you found CrossFit Trifecta to now.
CrossFit has humbled me.  I thought I was in shape before CrossFit, but quickly realized I had a LOT to work on!  It’s always challenging, and I love that.  

Do you have any special or favorite CrossFit Trifecta memories/moments?
My favorite moment at Trifecta was getting my first handstand walk.. even if it was only a couple of feet. :)

What advice would you give to someone just joining CrossFit Trifecta?
Come in everyday you can, and just do the work. Come in even when you don’t want to..  You are GOING to see results, and the cherry on top is that you get to spend your time with a kick ass group of people. :)

Additional Comments?
With CrossFit I have learned to never say “I can’t”, because eventually “I can”. It may not be today, or even tomorrow, but someday “I can”. This mindset in general has reminded me not to doubt myself and to always believe in me…inside and outside of the gym.  CrossFit has changed me as a person. It’s empowered me.  I am happier, healthier, confident and a more capable human because of it.  Excited to see what my future CrossFit journey has in store for me, and stoked I get to continue my journey that Trifecta.
