What’s your least favorite WOD? (so far) If it has snatches, I ain’t a fan.

In 3 words or less describe your average day at CrossFit Trifecta.
Business as usual.

What were you doing before CrossFit?
Since the age of four, I carried around a golf bag up to senior year of high school. After that, I was at the local planet fitness and did typical body building for about a year and a half.

How did you hear about CrossFit and/or CrossFit Trifecta?
At first, I tried to avoid CrossFit because of all the negative comments that were going around online but a buddy of mine convinced me to try one CrossFit workout. After collapsing of exhaustion from a snatch/run workout, I knew I was hooked. After a year and a half of training at my house, I really wanted to do the CrossFit Open. I was looking around trying to find the best coach or athletes around my area. The name that stood out the most was Tommy Pease, and I just knew I wanted to train at his gym. The day I was going to go, I was a bit intimidated so I started driving towards another box, but something told me to go to CrossFit Trifecta. So I ended up hopping in on a Thursday class and have been there ever since. It was the best gut feeling decision I’ve ever made.
Give us some insight as to your thoughts after your first workout at CrossFit Trifecta.
I was completely wrecked… I remember getting beat pretty bad by Robert Hollander on the run/row/ assault bike work out. After I left, I told myself I have some work to do.
Tell us a little about then vs. now. In regard to your fitness level before you found CrossFit Trifecta to now.
Even though the coaching helped me tremendously, I noticed I learned a lot from the athletes that I train with every day. I picked up a lot of different traits and techniques from people and I kind of added it to my own CrossFit game. I remember Steven teaching me how to do box jumps. Joe showing me how he does his muscle ups. Ramon helping me with toe to bars. I watched in awe of Jon’s pacing. I feel like I’ve become a combination of different athletes that I have watched throughout my year at CrossFit trifecta.

Do you have any special or favorite CrossFit Trifecta memories/moments?
Hands down it would be the CrossFit Trifectas North County’s fittest competition. It was the clean ladder and I managed to clean the 300lb bar. I remember having the bar crash on my chest and only being able to see the blur of the crowd while struggling to stand up. At the time, I was accustomed to doing the workouts by myself so being cheered on was such a foreign feeling to me. Having the Trifecta Tribe cheer me on was the best feeling. I honestly couldn’t have done it without them.

What advice would you give to someone just joining CrossFit Trifecta?
Just watch and learn. Also, try to go to different classes with all the different coaches. I feel like every single coach brings something different to the game, and it’s extremely helpful to be open to pick up information from them. Coach Beach goes into depth with the movements and helps you understand how your body is supposed to feel. Coach Amy specializes with mobility drills and keeps high expectations for proper form during workouts. Coach Tommy gives you the encouragement to push harder than you possibly think you can. Every coach on the roster brings something new that can help with reaching your goals. The other coaches are 5 and 6 AMers, so I can’t really tell you guys about them from personal experience. :)

Additional Comments?
Thank you to all the coaches who have continually helped me grow as a CrossFit athlete and have kept me accountable inside and out of the gym. Thank you to all the trifecta members for all the encouragement I’ve gotten this past year, and thank you for having a great attitude at the gym. It’s always easier to come in and train when everyone around you is on the same page and is constantly trying to get better at something.
